The computerised eye-wear that Google was rumoured to be working on will be on its way for the end of the year, the New York Times claimed today. The Times isn’t naming its sources but it appears to be a group of Google employees although there is no official announcement just yet.
Google glasses will stream information onto a heads-up display on one or both lenses of the glasses – similar to those used in fighter planes and the latest horseless carriages.
They will be competitively priced at the $250-300 range or £150-200 at today’s exchange rates. We’re assuming they work with existing phones as opposed to being standalone devices with their own phone capability.
Google glasses to look like this?
The glasses are operated using the physical motion of the head – a slight head tilt – which the computerised glasses register as a click. This is how you will navigate through menus and pages on the lens LCD screen. So now as well as appearing to talk to yourself as you walk along it will also seem like you have a head tick.
There will be a built in low-resolution camera which will overlay information about the surrounding buildings and environment letting you know the whereabouts of friends, services and so on in real-time. Stalkers and private dicks will love these.
